In July of 1946 Rev. Carl Mau arrived from Philadelphia Seminary to begin work in this area. On April 7, 1947 ground was broken for the church, and the cornerstone was laid on Reformation Sunday, October 26, of that year. The first service was held the following Christmas Eve with 52 in attendance. March 21, 1948 marked the official organization of this congregation with 66 charter members.
